Effect of Diffusates of Parthenium Hysterophorous L. on Seed Germination of Raphanus Sativus L

چکیده
The present investigation focused on the effects of plant and seed diffusates of Parthenium hysterophorus L. on seed germination of Raphanus sativus L. Level of glucose in germinating seeds as an indirect measure of amylase activity was estimated. About 91.66% viable seed of Raphanus sativus were treated in different concentrations of rhizospheric soil diffusates (PD) and germinating seed diffusates (SD) of Parthenium hysterophorus. Both diffusates were found effective to retard and minimize the germination of Raphanus seeds. The maximum inhibition for both cases was found at 100 % concentrations of the diffusates. The correlation analysis revealed the correlation factor 0.784 between PD concentrations and Raphanus seed germination and that of 0.889 between SD concentrations and Raphanus seed germination with 5% level of significance. This indicated that the increase in concentrations played negative role in germination process of Raphanus seeds. The results were interpreted in terms of the possible roles of “Parthenin”, a sesquiterpene-lactone which is known to be present in Parthenium hysterophorus.

EFFECT OF SOME ESSENTIAL OILS ON SEED GERMINATION AND SEEDLING LENGTH OF Parthenium hysterophorous L
Effect of plant essential oils on seed germination and seedling growth of Parthenium hysterophorus was examined. Essential oils of Eucalyptus, Camphor, and Lemongrass were used in the experiments at different concentrations (0 to 20 ml.l). Water imbibed (36 h) seeds were germinated at 25°C ± 1 in petriplates containing 3 layers of filter papers soaked in distilled water and added with 1.5 ml of...

The effect of leachates of different phenological stages of Cassia occidentalis L. on Parthenium hysterophorus L. was studied. Seed germination, radicle length, plumule length and fresh and dry weight of Parthenium were recorded. Pigments and protein contents were also measured to evaluate relation between biochemical and biophysical parameters of Parthenium under stress. The leaf leachate of C...

Allelopathy is the direct or indirect harmful effect which one plant produces on another through the production of chemical compounds that escape into the environment. In the presence paper allelopathic relationships were determined in three cereals wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), oat (Avena sativa L.) and vegetable crops spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.), radish (Raphan...

The aqueous extract from Carya cathayensis Sarg. exocarp was centrifuged, filtered, and separated into 11 elution fractions by X-5 macroporous resin chromatography. A phenolic compound, 4,8-dihydroxy-1-tetralone (4,8-DHT) was isolated from the fractions with the strongest phytotoxicity by bioassy-guided fractionation, and investigated for phytotoxicity on lettuce (Latuca sativa L.), radish (Rap...
